Usage

Ojai R30 provides a total of five – 9V DC center negative outputs, providing 500mA of current each.  Two of these are adjustable outputs that can be set to 9V (500mA), 12V (375mA), or 18V (250mA).  Pedals can be connected to Ojai R30 with the included 2.1mm x 5.5mm barrel connector cables.  Ojai R30 can power most effects pedals on the market, including all Strymon pedals. However, there are some pedals that have different requirements:

My pedal requires LESS than 500mA of current:

  • It is safe to power your 9V DC pedals that require less than 500mA.  This applies to most effect pedals. Your pedal will only draw the current it needs.

My pedal requires MORE than 500mA of current:

  • You can use a third party CURRENT DOUBLER cable to sum the current of two outputs together to power a single pedal.

My pedal requires 12V DC:

  • You can use either of Ojai R30’s adjustable outputs set to 12V.

My pedal requires 18V DC:

  • You can use either of Ojai R30’s adjustable outputs set to 18V.

My pedal requires center-positive polarity:

My pedal requires 15V/24V DC:

  • Ojai R30 provides 9V, 12V, or 18V DC outputs.  24V can be achieved by setting both adjustable outputs to 12V and using a VOLTAGE DOUBLER cable, however, Ojai R30 does not have options to provide 15V.

My pedal requires AC power:

  • Ojai R30 only provides DC power, so it cannot be powered.

****Caution: Providing too much or too little voltage to your pedals can provide undesired performance or even damage your pedals. Please make sure to check with each of your pedals’ manufacturer for recommended voltage, polarity, and current to ensure proper operation and prevent damaging your pedals with incorrect power.****

Yes, Ojai R30 provides automatic worldwide power compatibility (100-240V 50/60Hz), and can be used internationally with the appropriate region-specific IEC cable. The IEC cable is the cable that connects from the wall outlet to the included 24V power supply (PS-124).

Ojai ships with the IEC cable for the region in which it is purchased. If you intend to use Ojai internationally, you will need to purchase the appropriate IEC cable for the region that you will be traveling to.

Ojai R30 features built in threaded hardware for easy mounting to the top or bottom of most pedalboards. A drill template and mounting screws are included in the box.

Ojai R30 is low profile, incredibly lightweight, and can also be mounted to the top or bottom of most pedalboards (including Pedaltrain Nano and Metro boards) without modifications using only VELCRO® or Dual Lock™.  You may also choose to mount the included 24V power adapter in the same fashion (excluding Pedaltrain Nano or Metro).

Linking

Several Ojai or Ojai R30 units can be powered by one 24V power adapter or a Strymon Zuma power supply, allowing your power to grow with your pedalboard.

To connect Ojai units together:

  1. Power your first Ojai with the included 24V power adapter or a Strymon Zuma’s 24V output.
  2. Connect one end of the included EIAJ-05 link cable to the 24V THRU of the first Ojai.
  3. Connect the other end of the EIAJ-05 link cable to the 24V IN of the second Ojai.

Please read this FAQ for info on how many pedals can be powered when linking Ojai units.

This depends on the current draw of the connected pedals.  Ojai can power 5 outputs at 9V with a full 500mA load.  Most pedals consume far less than 500mA, so this means that we can link Ojai units together and still have current available to power more than 5 pedals.

The included 24V power adapter (PS-124) provides a maximum of 24 watts of power. A likely scenario would be to link 2 or 3 Ojai units together, powering a combination of 10-15 high and low current draw pedals.  When linked to a Strymon Zuma power supply, you can link as many as 6 Ojai units to power up to 39 effect pedals.
