Ojai provides five 9V DC center negative outputs, providing 500mA of current each. Pedals can be connected to Ojai with the included 2.1mm x 5.5mm barrel connector cables. These power outputs will allow you to power most effects pedals on the market, including all Strymon pedals. However, there are some pedals that have different requirements:
My 9V DC pedal requires LESS than 500mA of current.
My 9V DC pedal requires MORE than 500mA of current.
My pedal requires 18V DC.
My pedal requires center-positive polarity.
My pedal requires 12V/15V/24V DC.
My pedal requires AC power.
****Caution: Providing too much or too little voltage to your pedals can provide undesired performance or even damage your pedals. Please make sure to check with each of your pedals’ manufacturer for recommended voltage, polarity, and current to ensure proper operation and prevent damaging your pedals with incorrect power.****
Yes, Ojai provides automatic worldwide power compatibility (100-240V 50/60Hz), and can be used internationally with the appropriate region-specific IEC cable. The IEC cable is the cable that connects from the wall outlet to the included 24V power supply (PS-124).
Ojai ships with the IEC cable for the region in which it is purchased. If you intend to use Ojai internationally, you will need to purchase the appropriate IEC cable for the region that you will be traveling to.
Ojai is incredibly lightweight, and can be mounted to the top or bottom of most pedalboards using only VELCRO® or Dual Lock™. You may also choose to mount the included 24V power adapter in the same fashion.

Top Mounting:
Ojai is compact and lightweight, and can be mounted to the top of a PedalTrain Classic, Novo, or Terra without compromising much pedal space.
Bottom Mounting:
To mount Ojai to the bottom of a PedalTrain Classic, Novo, or Terra, you can simply use VELCRO® or Dual Lock™. For added security, you may also choose to use a PedalTrain Universal Bracket (part #PT-UNI-MK). The included 24V power adapter can be mounted in the same fashion. Be sure to clean the mounting surfaces with rubbing alcohol to ensure a good bond.
Top Mounting:
Ojai is compact and lightweight, and can be mounted to the top of a PedalTrain Nano or Metro without compromising much pedal space.
Bottom Mounting:
To mount Ojai under a PedalTrain Nano or Metro, the board will need to be lifted up a few millimeters to allow Ojai to fit.
We have found that Heyco part #C-2008 fits below the PedalTrain Nano and Metro foot and provides a sufficient height increase to fit Ojai underneath when mounted with VELCRO®. The included 24V power adapter may also be mounted in the same fashion.***Please note that this part is not compatible with newer Pedaltrain Nano or Metro boards built in 2017 and newer.***
You will need 4 of the Heyco C-2008 parts, which can be purchased inexpensively at Mouser. Insert the part on the bottom of each PedalTrain foot. You may choose to affix the part using Super Glue or E6000 permanent adhesive.
Once installed, these parts provide enough clearance for Ojai using VELCRO® only. It does not provide enough height increase to use with Dual Lock™.
You may also find a rubber foot, plastic insert, or furniture foot at your local hardware store that can serve the same purpose of providing a height increase.
Be sure to clean the mounting surfaces with rubbing alcohol to ensure the VELCRO® has a good bond.
Several Ojai or Ojai R30 units can be powered by one 24V power adapter or with our Strymon Zuma or Zuma R300 power supplies, allowing your power to grow with your pedalboard.
To connect Ojai units together:
Please read this FAQ for info on how many pedals can be powered when linking Ojai units.
This depends on the current draw of the connected pedals. Ojai can power 5 outputs at 9V with a full 500mA load. Most pedals consume far less than 500mA, so this means that we can link Ojai and Ojai R30 units together and still have current available to power more than 5 pedals.
The included 24V power adapter (PS-124) provides a maximum of 24 watts of power. A likely scenario would be to link 2 or 3 Ojai or Ojai R30 units together, powering a combination of 10-15 high and low current draw pedals. When linked to a Strymon Zuma power supply, you can link as many as 6 Ojai units to power up to 39 effect pedals. When linked to a Strymon Zuma R300 power supply, you can link as many as 5 Ojai units to power up to 30 effect pedals.
Ojai and Ojai R30 Expansion Kits consist of an isolated power distributor and all of the necessary connection cables to integrate it with your existing Strymon power supply and power up to five additional effects pedals.
Expansion Kits require an existing Strymon power product which connects to an AC power outlet, either directly (Zuma, Zuma R300) or via an external power adapter (Ojai R30, Ojai). Simply link an Expansion Kit to your existing Strymon power product via the 24V jack.
Expansion Kits include:
If you are getting noise from your power supply after introducing Ojai to your pedalboard setup which was powered by a different power supply, this typically means that there is likely a grounding problem with the connections in your signal chain. Some power supplies can hide grounding issues that affect your tone without realizing it.
If, after introducing Ojai to your pedalboard, you are getting noise in your audio signal, we recommend testing the continuity of each of the cables in your signal chain (mainly sleeve-to-sleeve) to determine where they may be a loss of a ground connection in your signal chain that could create this noise.
If you continue to have trouble, please send us an email to support@strymon.net.
