Usage

At the time of release (March 2019), all Strymon pedals that can accept a MiniSwitch via the EXP jack except BigSky, Mobius, and TimeLine are compatible with MultiSwitch Plus.  For these pedals, a firmware update is required for compatibility with MultiSwitch Plus.  Please visit strymon.net/update for instructions on how to update BigSky, Mobius and TimeLine.

There are several different modes of operation for MultiSwitch Plus for various uses with our products.  Please check the compatibility chart for details on which modes work with your Strymon pedals.  Also, check out the following FAQ for how to set your Strymon pedal to work with MultiSwitch Plus.

  • To change the modes on MultiSwitch Plus, you must connect a TRS cable into any of the 3 outputs while holding down 1 or more footswitches. ***Note: The opposite end of the TRS cable MUST be already plugged into the EXP jack of a powered-up Strymon pedal.

Preset mode – Adds the ability to select and bypass onboard presets 1-2-3.

  • Press and hold the footswitch on MultiSwitch Plus while connecting the TRS cable.
  • All three outputs carry the same signal to change the presets on up to 3 Strymon pedals.
    • For Riverside and Sunset, set the EXP jack to MIDI mode.
      • MIDI Channel must be set to Channel 1.
    • For Volante, set the EXP jack to PRESET mode.
      • MIDI Channel must be set to Channel 1.

Custom mode – Adds remote control functionality unique to the connected pedal.

  • Press and hold the C footswitch on MultiSwitch Plus while connecting the TRS cable.
  • All three outputs carry the same signal.
    • For Volante, Custom mode is used for when the EXP jack is set to SPEED or TRANSPORT modes.

TimeLine, BigSky, and Mobius mode – Expanded preset selection control and dedicated looper controls.  Acts just like the original MultiSwitch.

  • Press and hold both the B and C footswitches on MultiSwitch Plus while connecting the TRS cable.
  • For TimeLine, BigSky, and Mobius, the EXP jack must be set to Bank, Preset, TAP, or Looper modes.
  • Note:LED’s will not remain lit as there is no bi-directional communication on the EXP jack of these pedals.

TAP, FAV, BOOST, and SPEED mode – Each footswitch is paired with the closest output and its function can be independently assigned.

  • Press and hold the B footswitch on MultiSwitch Plus while connecting a TRS cable.
    • Once the cable is connected, the B LED will blink and then all 3 LEDs will stay lit GREEN and/or RED depending on the current settings.
    • Press each footswitch to toggle between TAP (GREEN) or FAV/BOOST/SPEED (RED) modes.
      • For example, you can have 3 separate TAP switches, 2 Favorite switches and a Boost switch, or different combinations of the different modes.
    • Press and hold the any of the footswitches to save and exit configuration mode.

Combo mode – Footswitches A and B and output jacks 1 and 2 match the behavior of Preset mode. Footswitch C and output jack 3 match the behavior of TAP, FAV, BOOST & SPEED MODE.

  • Press and old the A and footswitches while connecting a TRS cable into outputs 1 or 2 on MultiSwitch Plus.
    • Once the cable is connected, the A and B LEDs will blink twice and then the LED will stay lit GREEN or RED depending on the current setting.
    • Press the C footswitch to toggle between TAP (GREEN) or FAV/BOOST/SPEED (RED) modes.
    • Press and hold any of the footswitches to save and exit configuration mode.
  • Connect an additional TRS cable from output 3 to the pedal receiving Tap, Boost, Fav or Speed signal.

Tap, Fav, Boost & Speed: Depending on how MultiSwitch Plus is configured, the LED indicates that the FAV setting is activated, Boost is engaged, or Fast speed is selected.

Timeline, BigSky & Mobius: The LEDs do not function in this mode because communication with TimeLine, BigSky and Mobius via the EXP jack is not bi-directional.

Custom: The Custom setting functionality and LED behavior varies depending on the settings selected on the connected pedal.

Combo: In Combo mode, LEDs A-B indicate the selected preset for the pedal(s) connected to jacks 1-2. LED C indicates that the FAV setting is activated, Boost is engaged, or Fast speed is selected for the pedal connected to jack 3.
